On a touch screen
Input, in the quick controls, turns note input on. Then tap the staff where the note goes.
The note value button beside it sets the length; tap it to choose another.
Tap a note to select it. The buttons above it move it up or down, make it longer or shorter, dot it, tie it or delete it.
Play plays the score and Undo takes back anything.
More holds every other command, with a search box to find one.

Long notes split and tie across barlines automatically. Bars are added as you type. A MIDI keyboard, if plugged in, enters notes directly.
Handwriting
Turn on Handwrite and draw on the staff with an Apple Pencil, a finger or a mouse:

Structure
Select any note, then: repeat bars, 1.2. endings, + Bar / − Bar, key/time/tempo selectors ask whether to apply from that bar. The Pickup button makes an upbeat bar. Playback follows repeats, endings, tempo changes, and can swing.
Learning & accessibility
Color-coded noteheads (Boomwhacker colors) · ABC letter names on notes · dark sheet · speaks every selected note aloud. Notes can be entered and edited from the keyboard alone.
Orchestral writing
Articulations (staccato · accent · tenuto · marcato · sfz) and dynamics ppp–fff all play back.
Technique… sets pizz./arco, mutes and harmonics, and playback follows them. ⫽ tremolo.
rit. / accel. make a bar breathe; Ⓐ drops auto rehearsal letters.
Out-of-range notes turn red. Print part adds multi-bar rests and auto-cues
after long silences. Ideas Bank saves fragments for any score.
Explode a piano sketch across the orchestra · Reduce the score back to piano.
The D.C./D.S. menu adds Segno, Coda and Fine, and playback follows the jumps. Clef… switches the clef mid-piece, tenor included.
